Don't forget to write to Santa!
Why you should really be writing to Santa too.
YES YOU!
You’re not too old besides your inner child is more powerful than you think. If you choose not to listen to him/her (just like a outer world child) they will shout louder to get your attention (sometimes in unexpected ways e.g. sabotaging behaviour, relationship struggles, impulsive action, escapism or even physical health issues).
So this festive season I encourage you to join me in doing a quick easy fun task to tap into your inner child, connect to your self and your outer world (real life) child by following my easy peasy santa letter template.
Why else should I bother?
Great modelling of clear communication to your child. Children are always watching. They much prefer to do something if you model doing it yourself.
Playing alongside your child writing this letter will build connection.
It’s an opportunity to pause, reflect and refocus on what you want. (Much needed in these hectic shopping and screen filled days)
So often I see (in my office and in personal life) that it is so easy to get swept up in problems and what’s wrong, what’s not done yet, what you don’t have, the “not enough-ness” (yes that’s a technical term! No, no it’s not..). It is easy to get in a tailspin and want to focus on searching for band aids to fix the problems we have and avoid pain and discomfort. I mean a lot of marketing is built around this drive. We put on our problem finding glasses and sadly we forget to swap them out with our positive glasses.
Writing this short letter is a chance to pause, take stock and focus on what you do want. What is your preferred vision of the future? What is your wish for your self? What do you wish for others? What would be the first thing you notice if this dream came true? Ask for that!
Holding the vision in your mind helps your brain refocus and helps you recognise when and where you can take steps towards that dream. Plus, by asking for a little bit of help (especially if you’re one of those people who tends to try to do everything yourself) can at least momentarily reduce some of the stress you carry around in your body and mind. Even if it feels a little bit silly at first, a little bit of faith can take pressure off and frankly that’s a more enjoyable way to live, right?
OK so get your crayolas out now and follow the template below. Alternatively, cut and paste and type it into the comments below. Save money on a stamp 😉 Besides I hear Santa is very active online these days…more efficient!
I’ll go first in the comments 😃
Sending you lots of Festive cheer and sprinkles of magic positivity star dust!
